“Bruce Jenner’s bold statement as a trans women works perfectly with what we want in a CoverGirl model”
Popular cosmetics company CoverGirl announced today that Bruce Jenner will be the company’s latest model and spokesperson. Obviously this is Jeener’s first cosmetics partnership since his transition to living life as a women. Previously more conventional CoverGirl representatives include Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, and Pink.
This is a historic move for CoverGirl as Jenner recently announced he is a trans women and has dealt with gender dysphoria since he was a child. Jenner has been in a physical transformation to womanhood with hormone replacement therapy since the 80’s and considers himself a women.
“Jenner’s naturally elegant, beautiful look and bold statement as a trans women works perfectly with what we want in a CoverGirl model,” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and general manager of CoverGirl Cosmetics. “We designed the products for people who, like Jenner, want makeup that makes them feel like a women.
The recent 20/20 interview with Jenner could have something to do with his latest endorsement deal. The interview had 20.7 million viewers making it the highest rated news interview ever. His transition to a women will also be an 8 part documentary series later this year. Jenner has had some minor cosmetic surgery as part of his transition but hasn’t decided if he will have gender reassignment surgery or not. He considers life as a women to be more of a mental state.
Jenner will be promoting “inner beauty” for the CoverGirl fall campaign in 2015. Print ads and commercials featuring Jenner will start appearing july 2015. Drugstores, convenience stores, and supermarkets will begin to display advertisements featuring Jenner as well. “I’m really excited to be the newest CoverGirl model, I’ve been using CoverGirl products since I was a little boy. The makeup feels amazing on my skin” said Jenner.
